SPC plank itself is waterproof, but what's underneath still matters. Moisture moving up through a slab can get trapped under the floor, and a closed-up house in August can hold enough humidity to swell wood baseboards and door casings. When a slab reads high, I use a moisture-barrier underlayment instead of hoping for the best. If a slab is clearly wet from a plumbing leak or bad drainage outside, I'll tell you to fix that first, because no floor fixes a water problem.
For rentals and second homes, I also ask how the AC is set when nobody's there. Planks and trim do best when the house stays climate controlled. Shutting the system off for weeks at a time is hard on any floor in this climate.
